How to Run a Weekly Golf Competition With Friends
If you play golf with the same group regularly, adding a little competition can make even an ordinary weekend round much more interesting.
You don’t need to create a formal golf society either. Four friends playing every Saturday can easily create their own competition.
Choose a Simple Format
Stableford is one of the easiest options for mixed-handicap groups because everyone can compete and one disastrous hole doesn’t necessarily ruin the entire round.
Stroke Play, Match Play and Better Ball can also work well depending on how many golfers are playing.
You can even change the format from week to week.
Create a Season-Long Leaderboard
Instead of treating every round separately, consider awarding points based on finishing positions.
For example, the winner receives 10 points, second receives 8, third receives 6 and so on.
Over several months, those results create a season leaderboard and give everyone something to play for each week.
You could even have a small trophy or prize for the eventual winner.
Add Side Competitions
Not everything needs to depend on the final score.
Add occasional challenges such as:
Nearest the Pin • Longest Drive • Most Birdies • Best Front Nine • Best Back Nine
They can keep everyone interested even when their main round isn’t going particularly well.
Keep the Group Connected Between Rounds
One of the best things about regular group golf is what happens between the rounds too.
Someone might play elsewhere during the week, have their best round of the year or finally get their handicap down.
With a TrackPar Circle, the rest of the group can follow those rounds, react and comment even when they weren’t playing together.
Then when your regular competition comes around again, your Events, results, handicaps and group activity are already together.
Give Your Weekly Golf Group Its Own Home
TrackPar is designed for exactly these kinds of groups.
Create a private Circle, invite your regular golfers and use it to keep your friendly competitions, rounds, progress, photos and golf memories together.
You don’t need to be an official society.
If you regularly play golf together, you’ve already got a golf group. TrackPar simply gives it a home.
